Val Katsman

Coach/Consultant

Val is originally from Colorado Springs, where he began skating at the age of three with Olympic coach Tom Zakrajsek. He began ice-dancing at the age of 10, training at the Wheaton Ice Skating Academy and then training under Olympic Ice Dance coaches Angelika Krylova and Pasquale Camerlengo. He began coaching at 16 and started the Royal Oak Skating Academy in 2018.

Val is a two-time U.S. National Medalist in Ice Dance, five-time U.S. Midwestern Sectional Medalist in Ice Dance, three-time U.S. Southwestern Regional Medalist in Freestyle and was a member of the International Selection Pool for the United States in Ice Dance. He is a Triple Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field, Ice Dance, and Freestyle, and is currently pursuing Masters in Business Administration in Health Care at Johns Hopkins University.
